Salary range for RSAM Registered Nurses $43.10 - $70.00 / hour
  Evening Shift Differential-$3.00 / hour
  Night Shift Differential- $4.00 / hour
  Day Shift Weekend Differential- $2.90 / hour
  Evening Shift Weekend Differential- $5.90 / hour
  Night Shift Weekend Differential- $6.90 / hour
  Charge Nurse Differential- $1.00 / hour

Responsibilities*

 

Provide expert nursing care to the patients on Trauma Burn.

Position requires some staffing responsibilities on all shifts.

Provide clinical expertise in a consultative role to nursing staff.

Assess and design competencies for nursing staff regarding clinical nursing care and the learning needs of the Trauma/Burn patient population.

Investigate, design, evaluate, and modify nursing care programs as necessary in collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Specialist and Trauma Burn leadership team.

Assist in maintaining orientation, education, and competency records.

Perform unit audits related to quality improvement initiatives.

Actively participate in the orientation program for Trauma Burn, including scheduling, preceptor development and training, and precepting nurses and assistive personnel.

Coordination of orientation schedules for hired staff, visitors, etc.

Membership and participation on nursing and hospital wide committees.

Participate in the development and implementation of unit quality improvement programs and activities in collaboration with the Trauma Burn team.

Develop a biyearly educational plan in collaboration with CNS to address staff learning needs and development. 

Provide leadership and mentoring for the Trauma Burn staff.

Provide input on performance plan as requested by the Nursing Director and members of the Trauma Burn-leadership team.

Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position.

Required Qualifications*

 

Current licensure to practice nursing in the state of Michigan 

Bachelor?s degree in nursing or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills as evidenced by previous evaluations.

Five (5) or more years nursing experience (as a Registered Nurse) is necessary. Four (4) of the five (5) years must be current and directly related to the care of Intensive Care patients. Recent Trauma / Burn patient care experience is required

Excellent teaching skills as evidenced by current employment experience and evaluations. 

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to direct nursing practice, delegate, evaluate outcomes, prioritize problems solving and successfully resolve conflicts as demonstrated by employment experience and evaluations.

Ability to provide leadership in a health care setting as demonstrated by current employment and evaluations.

Demonstrated proficiency in documentation as indicated by current employment.

Excellent leadership skills in facilitating group dynamic and team development as indicated by current employment and evaluations.

Demonstrated evidence of participation in continuous quality improvement by involvement in teams and by supporting changes recommended through the continuous quality improvement process.

High level of self-motivation and commitment to improving patient outcomes.

Desired Qualifications*

 

ATCN/ABLS Instructor desired

Excellent charge nurse skills as demonstrated by strong organization, which includes proficient use of Outlook email system and Microsoft Word and Power point.

Demonstrated evidence of teaching experience with adult ICU Medical and/or Surgical patient population within the last year.

Demonstrated evidence of teaching experience with burn patient population within the last year.

Proficient in adult learning principles and experience in teaching adults.

Ability to establish a strong, positive working relationship with the Nursing and assistive staff.

Work Schedule

 

Hours: 40hrs/week,  8 & 12 hour shift combination
Shift: Primary shift will be Night shift, with availability for all shifts as needed
Location: University Hospital-Trauma/Burn ICU

All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.
