Job Summary

 

The University of Michigan Procurement Services has an exciting opportunity for Intern positions.  We invite qualified candidates to apply for the position and join the procurement team to support our Service Delivery & Social Impact Programs. This position will report directly to a Procurement Services manager and/or supervisor.

The selected candidate will have opportunities in the following areas:
 

  • Service Delivery 
    • Assist with general website, video, and marketing materials associated with Procurement Services projects and programs.
    • Assist with the development of procurement course presentations and videos.
  • Social Impact Purchasing 
    • Support procurement agents in assessing and handling purchase requests.
    • Review requests to ensure clarity, appropriateness of purchase, and compliance with bid specifications. 
    • Assist the procurement team in presenting purchasing options to end-user departments. 
    • Support with document scanning, storage, and data entry into procurement systems.
    • Work with Procurement Agents to address and quickly resolve questions from the campus community.
       

Required Qualifications*

 
  • Area of study in marketing, business, or procurement experience preferred. 
  • Ability to provide excellent Customer Service.  
  • Ability to continually learn new processes and procedures.  
  • Proven ability to coordinate several tasks simultaneously.  
  • Demonstrated organizational and analytical skills. 
  • Proven research and problem solving skills necessary. 
  • Superior verbal, written and electronic communication skills.  
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently. 
  • Experience working with or in procurement is desirable, but not required.
     

Modes of Work

 

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Additional Information

 
  • Maximum 29 hours/week
  • Wage is $20-24/hour, variable based on education and experience
  • Term length: Oct - May 2025
  • Work hours: TBD based on academic schedule
