You will join a team of experienced and passionate AV professionals to review time-sensitive incident tickets and Slack messages, triage issues with classroom and conference room AV systems (often during live classes and events), and resolve Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical problems. On-site, you'll assess whether immediate repairs are possible or if further work is needed when the space becomes available.
Your focus will be on complex AV issues beyond the scope of standard triage, but not yet requiring escalation to Senior Engineers. This includes diagnosing problems within integrated AV systems made up of 20+ core subsystems.
You'll often delegate routine tasks to AV Technicians and escalate more advanced issues to Engineering teams. You will also contribute by writing Knowledge Base articles and leading training sessions to improve technicians' ability to resolve common AV problems and troubleshoot related device issues.
At times, you'll support complex AV projects across LSA and UM, assisting with system design, installation, and maintenance. You'll collaborate with project engineers to develop and share
documentation for major initiatives. Your work will be supported by a strong team culture that values feedback, collaboration, and continuous learning. You'll have dedicated time for professional development and growth through participation in some of the most exciting AV integration projects on campus.
About You
You bring a solid foundation in AV support, with hands-on experience in integration, maintenance projects, installations, and equipment upgrades. Your working knowledge of at least one specialized area of AV systems or digital AV technologies will strengthen the team's ability to execute renovations, new construction, and system troubleshooting. In this role, you'll contribute to maintaining reliable learning spaces, critical to supporting faculty and students in their work.
You are patient, polite, and empathetic, with a problem-solving mindset rooted in the College's mission. You communicate clearly and respectfully, both verbally and non-verbally, asking relevant questions, giving direction, and actively listening. You take initiative, acknowledge concerns, and follow through with solutions, while learning from feedback and continuously growing from both successes and setbacks.
Experience on construction sites and familiarity with OSHA regulations, safety protocols, and local job site requirements are a plus.
You'll work with people from diverse technical backgrounds, often supporting educators and researchers who may not be AV experts. Your ability to explain technical concepts clearly and justify equipment and installation decisions will be essential to building trust and ensuring smooth collaboration.
A degree (Associate's or Bachelor's) is welcome but not required. What matters most is your technical skill, collaborative approach, and record of thoughtful, reliable work. Whether your background is in AV systems integration, project engineering, design, or audio engineering, we value what you bring and how you contribute.
