This entry-level position offers an opportunity to promote your skills in information gathering, data entry, and problem-solving. The position requires autonomy and time-management skills, as well as great attention to detail. Expectations include good attendance, dependability, teamwork, and accountability. Interpersonal and team communication skills are required, with a customer service focus. The position offers a balance of physical work that includes standing, reaching and bending for a few hours at a time and data-entry at the computer. A comfort level and ability to work around animals is necessary as work will occur in animal facilities. Travel between buildings is expected.
The position duties are as follows:
Database entry and reconciliation - 75%
- Maintains consistent and accurate census records for animal inventories (activating, deactivating, and appropriate updates)
- Processes transfers in the database system and protocols in the field
- Creates and distributes breeding sheets by request in a timely fashion.
- Follows appropriate guidelines for breeding colony cages and biohazard transfers
- Reconciles data gathered with information existing in the database in a timely manner
Scanning and Census - 25%
- Provides cage scanning and information gathering in assigned areas on a biweekly schedule
- Files and digitizes barcode documentation records
- Applies appropriate skill level in problem solving to respond to questions within assigned functional areas
- Performs other duties as assigned by Inventory Control Supervisor
- Communicates with direct supervisor any changes or concerns
- Works under minimal supervision
