The Staff Dentist will provide high-quality, patient-centered care for individuals presenting with urgent and emergent dental needs. This includes conducting screening visits, reviewing medical and dental histories, identifying chief complaints, and establishing patient goals for care. The dentist will evaluate oral health status, order and interpret radiographs or imaging as appropriate, and determine the level of care required. They will also discuss treatment options with patients and ensure referrals to the appropriate specialty or general clinic for continued care and follow-up.
In addition, the Staff Dentist will deliver and supervise a full scope of emergency and general dental procedures such as diagnosis and management of acute pain and infection, emergency pulpectomies, pulp capping, extractions (simple and surgical), management of dentoalveolar trauma, and the repair or recementation of restorations. The role also includes providing real-time clinical supervision, instruction, and mentorship to D3 and D4 students, maintaining accurate documentation in the electronic health record, and collaborating with faculty and staff to implement best practices. Compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control standards, as well as clear and empathetic communication with patients, students, and colleagues, are essential to success in this role.
