An exceptional opportunity is available for a highly motivated and dedicated Research Assistant to support community-engaged research projects with the onWHARD (Women's Health and Reproductive Disparities) team within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The Research Assistant will work on impactful studies that are funded internally or funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), and other projects focused on women's health and health equity.

This is a unique chance to be a part of meaningful research while engaging with community members, study participants, and a large, diverse research team. The successful candidate will support in recruitment and enrollment, data and specimen collection, participant engagement, and ongoing communication with both study teams and stakeholders. Additional tasks may include supporting Community Advisory Board (CAB) activities, consenting, obtaining specimen & transport, etc.

• Support daily study operations, focusing on recruitment and engagement of participants at multiple University of Michigan-affiliated clinics.
• Utilize the electronic medical record (MiChart) and additional screening tools to identify eligible study participants based on inclusion/exclusion criteria. Abstract data from chart for enrolled participants.
• Support the principal investigator in her role with research participants including during study procedures, obtaining biopsies, etc.
• Support outreach communications?including phone calls, emails, and letters to recruit and follow up with participants.
• Provide detailed study information and obtain informed consent in accordance with study protocol (in-person, via phone, or electronic signature platforms such as SignNow).
• Coordinate and schedule study visits, working closely with healthcare providers and research staff for smooth protocol implementation.
• Collect, record, and track data using both paper-based and electronic systems; ensure accurate data entry and perform quality assurance checks.
• Complete and keep current on all required research and research lab related trainings. 
• Transport and process bio-specimens as required, with up-to-date training in safe handling procedures.
• Support preparation of recruitment materials, questionnaires, and participant communications; monitor ongoing participant engagement.
• Generate regular reports on recruitment, data collection progress, and data integrity for team meetings and sponsor reporting.
• Support in data analysis tasks, including organization of data tables, preparation of graphics.
• Supporting in maintaining IRB documentation to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Provide logistical support across clinic sites in Ann Arbor and Southeast Michigan as needed.
• Contribute to additional research projects and tasks based on evolving study and team priorities.

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related health or research field.
• Previous experience interacting with patients in a clinical research or medical setting; experience in areas like community engaged research, women?s health, reproductive medicine, etc. highly desirable.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn and use data management platforms (e.g., REDCap).
• Some experience with clinical care and obtaining informed consent for research.
• Training and willingness to handle and transport bio-specimens; willingness to collect specimens from operating rooms if required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; a high degree of professionalism and attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary research team.
• Willingness and ability to travel to local and regional clinic sites as needed; valid Michigan driver's license required.
• Demonstrated reliability, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

• This is an onsite position. The Research Assistant is expected to work closely with the team and provide support for team needs on campus.
• The role may require work outside of standard business hours to collect specimens from the operating room (OR) or after early morning procedures, as dictated by procedure and clinic schedules.
• Ability to travel to clinic sites in and around Ann Arbor.
• Ability to participate in site visits and community events.
