Job Summary

 

The Emergency Medicine department is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Senior Manager to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for the management, performance, and successful completion of assigned projects, serving as the single point of contact throughout the project lifecycle. A primary focus of this position will be overseeing and managing our Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) program, including responsibility for a large, multicenter clinical trial. This critical program aims to advance research, improve patient care, and facilitate collaboration among clinical and research teams. This role requires strong leadership, organizational, and analytical skills to ensure project objectives?especially those related to the TBI program and the multicenter clinical trial?are achieved on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.

The Project Senior Manager position offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing for a combination of on-site and remote work to support both team collaboration and work-life balance.

Responsibilities*

 
  • Manage projects from original concept through completion, driving all phases of project delivery.
  • Oversee and coordinate all aspects of the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) program within the Emergency Medicine department, including research initiatives, clinical collaborations, and program development.
  • Provide oversight and leadership for the successful execution of a multicenter clinical trial, including protocol implementation, site management, regulatory compliance, data collection, and reporting.
  • Develop detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource allocations, and status reports.
  • Conduct regular project meetings, track project progress, and perform thorough analysis to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Coordinate and ensure the integration of research tasks; review and track deliverables against project requirements.
  • Maintain adherence to quality standards and rigorously review project deliverables for completeness and accuracy.
  • Provide expert analytical guidance and leadership to the project team, proactively identifying and recommending solutions to project-related challenges.
  • Independently analyze, compare, and evaluate various courses of action, making significant independent decisions on project matters.
  • Serve as a trusted consultant to stakeholders, providing status updates and escalations as needed.
  • Recommend and take action to direct the analysis and solutions of problems, ensuring projects deliver the desired outcomes and business impact.
  • Oversee research coordinators engaged in TBI and related clinical data collection projects, as well as a laboratory technician supporting a neurobiomarker laboratory.

Required Qualifications*

 
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • More than four years of progressive project management experience, preferably in a complex organizational environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; experience leading meetings and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of making independent decisions that significantly impact business operations.
  • Experience with vendor management and contract deliverables.
  • Proficiency with project management tools and software.

Desired Qualifications*

 
  • Master's degree or advanced degree in project management, public health, business administration, healthcare administration, or a related field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Society of Clinical Research Associates (SoCRA), or Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) certification.
  • Experience managing multicenter clinical trials and/or grant-funded research programs.
  • Experience within healthcare, academic medical centers, or Emergency Medicine environments.
  • Experience specifically with TBI programs or neurology-related research.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements in clinical research (e.g., IRB, FDA, GCP).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, develop consensus, and drive change.
  • Experience with budget preparation, financial management, and resource allocation.
  • Strong understanding of data management practices and clinical trial operations.
  • Experience working with external research sponsors, community partners, or government agencies.
  • Experience in developing and delivering presentations, reports, and training materials.
  • Knowledge of University of Michigan policies and procedures.

Additional Information

 

Compensation and Classification: This is an exempt position under FLSA guidelines. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
