The Division of Public Safety and Security (DPSS) leads all public safety functions within the university, including police, security, and emergency management, and offers an integrated approach to safety and security, operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
DPSS Museum Security is a full-service public safety department dedicated to meeting the needs of the University of Michigan community. Our officers are highly trained security professionals equipped to serve all members of our community. We manage all security operations for the Museum of Art, the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology, the Museum of Natural History, and the School of Dentistry. We may also provide security services for other university buildings and events.
The Museum Security Department reports to the Chief of Police.
Work schedules may include weekends, afternoons, holidays, and unanticipated overtime. This is a uniform position in accordance with the DPSS uniform dress code. There will be both stationary and foot patrol assignments, and building-specific responsibilities.
