Job Summary

 

The Department of Recreational Services is seeking students for part-time intramural official positions. Officials will facilitate a fun, safe, and welcoming environment for all program participants. There will be opportunities to officiate season long sports, tournaments, and help with special events. No officiating experience needed. Training will be provided for the various sports we offer. Shifts will take place on weekday evenings, during the fall and winter semesters. 

Responsibilities*

 
  • Enforce rules and regulations for intramural sporting events 
  • Check in participants on scorecard and verifying eligibility status
  • Accurately record scores, fouls, and sportsmanship ratings
  • Ensure a high level of sportsmanship at all times
  • Set up and break down of activity area when needed
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of rules and regulations for each sport
  • Attend required meetings and trainings

Required Qualifications*

 
  • Current UM-Flint Student
  • Basic understanding of various sports
  • Eagerness to learn and grow within recreational sports

Desired Qualifications*

 
  • Previous playing, officiating or coaching experience
  • Certified MHSAA official in Football, Basketball, Soccer, or Volleyball 

Modes of Work

 

Onsite

The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence. Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan.
