The Department of Biostatistics at the University of Michigan School of Public Health invites applications for a postdoctoral research fellow under the supervision of Dr. Kelley Kidwell. Our department is ranked number 3 by the US News World Report and Rankings. We have a thriving body of 42 faculty, 9 postdocs, 273 students, and 123 research and administrative staff members and close ties with the Department of Statistics, the Institute for Social Research, the Medical School, the Michigan Institute for Data Science, The Institute of Health Policy and Innovation, and other research groups across campus.

The start date is flexible; the selected candidate will ideally begin as soon as possible.

Responsibilities*

 

You will work with Dr. Kidwell and their team of graduate students in the areas of clinical trial design and analysis, in particular sequential, multiple assignment, and randomized trial design. You will have the opportunity to mentor the PhD students on the team.

Experience in any of the following areas may be useful: SMART designs and methods, clinical trial methods, Bayesian methods, and developing R packages and scalable algorithms. 

Opportunities for collaboration across the Department of Biostatistics and the Medical School, particularly with the department of Anesthesiology, at the University of Michigan will be available.
 

Required Qualifications*

 
  • Doctoral degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field
  • Strong R programming skills

Postdoctoral research fellows are appointed in one year terms. This position is expected to be funded for two years with the possibility of a third year based on available funding and performance. We also offer excellent benefits.
