The Application Systems Analyst Senior plays a key role in advancing the University's commitment to accessible digital environments. This position is responsible for assessing and improving accessibility across digital platforms, including internal and public-facing websites and web applications. The Analyst conducts manual and automated evaluations, advises on best practices in accessible design and development, and supports content remediation efforts for websites and digital tools.

Working collaboratively with individuals across the College of Literature, Science, and Arts (LSA), the Applications Systems Analyst provides recommended training, consultation, and resources tailored to faculty and staff. The position will help ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws as well as U-M guidelines by reviewing new and existing technologies, advising on procurement decisions, and responding to digital accessibility feedback and requests within the college.

The Applications Systems Analyst will maintain an inventory of digital assets, manage scanning tools, support regular audits and compliance tracking, and contribute to the development and dissemination of accessibility training through platforms such as LinkedIn Learning. This role partners closely with Information Technology Services (ITS), the Disability Equity Office (DEO), and other units on campus to support university-wide accessibility goals, promote policy awareness, and help shape strategic initiatives. Strong communication skills, knowledge of assistive technologies, and a commitment to raising awareness and helping with remediation efforts will ensure success in this role.

50% - Conduct digital accessibility reviews, audits, and recommend steps for remediation

• Work with the Web and Applications Development Team staff to build strategies for evaluating LSA sites and web applications.
• Run accessibility reports and work with units as well as various teams across LSA to remediate identified issues
• Assist in leading the maintenance, development, and identification of digital accessibility audit strategies, tools, and data.
• Assist LSA Technology Services staff and/or work with DEO/ITS to help evaluate new software purchases for compliance with accessibility standards

30% - Serve as point person for LSA Technology Services for non-instructional, digital accessibility questions and issues.

• Find solutions and answers to general questions and triage issues when necessary.
• Attend meetings to provide guidance and input to help teams with accessibility strategies and approaches to remediation

20% - Assist in developing, maintaining, and enhancing LSA strategies that keep LSA sites and web applications in compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines

• Bachelor's degree in web design or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of digital accessibility standards, including Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (WCAG 2.1)
• Familiarity with accessibility best practices, such as effective alt text, document structuring
• 4+ years of experience with web design and/or web content editing experience.
• 3+ years of digital accessibility experience.
• Experience with web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and ARIA.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working both independently and collaboratively.

The position currently offers a hybrid schedule with time spent primarily working remotely, but on occasion, being able to come to our Ann Arbor Campus is considered a plus. This may change
based on business and College needs. Flexible work agreements are reviewed on a yearly basis.
