The Division of General Medicine at the University of Michigan is seeking a full-time individual with experience in user experience (UX) Design and/or software programming to support the development of a novel digital health tool designed to support individuals caring for loved ones with opioid use disorder (OUD). This intervention will include the development of a mobile-friendly website with tertiary behavioral "nudge" messaging as well as collection and analysis of user engagement metrics to support a randomized controlled trial.
This individual will work closely with addiction researchers, project managers, and a data analyst/manager to lead the conceptual design, build the user experience, and support the integration of tools like Twilio and REDCap. This position is ideal for a motivated individual with strong UX skills who is also comfortable learning and applying front-end development concepts in a health research context. While the ability to develop and manage both the front-end and back-end of a web application is not required, a willingness to collaborate and learn on the job is critical.
This is a one-year, grant-funded, full-time role with benefits and the potential for publication authorship and extended opportunities. It is a great opportunity for somebody to learn about applied research principles including trial design and community engaged research methods. It is also a rich opportunity to be part of the design of a healthcare intervention from start to finish and bolster your personal portfolio.
