Job Summary

 

The Infection Prevention Analyst (IPA) sets a professional example both within the department and as a representative of the department throughout the enterprise. A successful candidate is able to successfully work both as a team member as well as independently with mentor and/or leadership involvement as appropriate. IPAs collect, review and analyze surveillance data, maintain infection prevention databases and dashboards, act as a liaison with the health departments, and assists Infection Preventionists with investigations. 

Under FLSA, incumbents in this position are non-exempt.

Responsibilities*

 
  • 50% Collect, assess, review and analyze surveillance data using various surveillance systems
  • 20%  Maintain records and update databases and dashboards
  • 10% Work with Infection Preventionists to conduct activities related to exposures of patients and employees of communicable diseases
  • 5% Identify, notify and provide data analysis using data tools and statistics to support Infection Preventionists investigating clusters or outbreaks.
  • 5% Other duties as assigned, including outbreak investigations and special projects.

Required Qualifications*

 
  • Bachelor's degree in a health-related field. MPH preferred 
  • Ability to reliably attend virtual and in-person meetings. 
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments and time management. 
  • Organize time effectively. 
  • Work independently as well as a member of a team.
  • Report generating skills
  • Experience in data analysis and/or statistical analysis

Desired Qualifications*

 
  • MPH, MS, or equivalent
  • Tableau, SAS or other data management/ data visualization software experience
  • EPIC

Background Screening

 

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
