The College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, and the Department of Communication and Media at the University of Michigan invite applications for a Lecturer I position to lead discussion sections at 35%-50% effort for the Fall 2025 Term.  This appointment is scheduled to begin on August 25, 2025 and end December 31, 2025.

The Department of Communication and Media is seeking to hire LEO Lecturers for the Fall 2025 term. Fraction appointments are from .35 - .5. Please see the course guide for discussion times and locations. Placements will not be finalized until July, and offer-letters will be sent out around that time.

• COMM 101  The Media Past and Present (2 positions at .5%)
  • Lecturers must teach 3 sections for a 50% position. Sections must enroll at least 15 and are capped at 25.
• COMM 102  Media Processes and Effects (1 position at .5%)
  • The Lecturer must teach 3 sections for a 50% position. Sections must enroll at least 15 and are capped at 25.
• COMM 261  Views on the News (1 position at .5%)
  • The Lecturer must teach 3 sections for a 50% position. Sections must enroll at least 15 and are capped at 25.
• COMM 323  News Media Ethics (1 position at .35%
  • The Lecturer must teach 2 sections for a 35% position. Sections must enroll at least 15 and are capped at 25.
• COMM 343  Public Relations (1 position at .5%)
  • The Lecturer must teach 3 sections for a 50% position. Sections must enroll at least 15 and are capped at 25.
• COMM 370  Social Networks ULWR (1 position at .5%)
  • The Lecturer must teach 2 sections for a 50% position. Sections must enroll at least 15 and are capped at 25.
• COMM 375  Sports, Media, and Culture ULWR (2 positions at .5%)
  • The Lecturer must teach 2 sections for a 50% position. Sections must enroll at least 15 and are capped at 25.
     

• Attend all lectures and exams for your preferred course.
• Lead assigned discussion sections.    
• Hold at least 2 office hours each week.
• Grade assignments, per lead faculty instruction.    
• Meet weekly with the lead instructor and respond promptly to emails.
      
   

Applicants must have earned a Masters in Communication Studies, or a related field, prior to the beginning of the appointment. Candidates should have a proven teaching record of excellence.

A Ph.D. in Communication Studies.
