This is the supervisor for Pavilion Supply Chain Warehouse Operations. This staff member has direct hire, training, and discipline responsibilities for a team of bargained and non-bargained employees including scheduling, payroll and other administrative functions.  The staff member shares responsibility with the Intermediate & Senior Supervisor on the shift to execute the daily operations plan for routine stock keeping of Supplies and Linen for the inpatient, specialty areas, and clinical areas at the D.Dan & Betty Kahn Health Care Pavilion. 

The supervisor is responsible for communicating any issues with inbound supplier shipments that occur on shift, including routine LUM orders, specialty, Linen, and emergency orders. This team member is also responsible for routine quality assurance reviews and eliminating the risk of expired product for each unit during regularly scheduled reviews for all stocked locations. This role participates and/or leads continuous improvement efforts including A3 development, continuous improvement, root cause investigation, training development, delivery and other change management activities.

• Supervise Supply Chain logistics including inventory control, receiving, put-away, PAR replenishment, and product staging.
• Supervise Linen Distribution functions for Pavilion clean supply rooms and areas covered under Linen routine stocking. 
• Supervise Customer Service team for the department. Customer Service operations include email, phone, and fax. 
• Maintain and develop plans to ensure unit supply needs are being met as needs are constantly changing. Meet routinely with customers to ensure satisfaction, compliance, and strong rapport.
• Hire and evaluate/critique the performance and proficiencies of staff. Interview, train, coach, and terminate employees. Handle and initiate all personnel forms related to payroll, appointment changes, and leaves of absences. Maintain accurate employee training records. Conduct progressive corrective action promptly, up to and including termination, when necessary.
• Strong knowledge of all Supply Chain departments including Transactional Purchasing, Value Analysis, Business Systems, Supply Chain Solutions, Accreditation, PAR Management, and more. Utilizing this knowledge to escalate problems appropriately, and awareness of impact to specific areas.
• Handle and problem solve all complaints from customers and grievances including progressive discipline.
• Act as a department representative at daily institutional Safety Huddles, report service-related issues to appropriate parties and follow up on corrective actions in response to any supply or linen-related safety concerns.
• Interface with Environmental Services for coordination of removal of soiled linen from hospital on a timely basis.
• Interface with the Linen Depot for receiving, returns, quality concerns, and service concerns.
• Use root cause analysis to solve problems and recommend changes to processes and complete training to prevent re-occurrences.
• Proficient in Peoplesoft, SYFT, and other inventory technology systems/websites related to job functions. Includes analysis of data on various platforms to gain insight used to help solve problems. 
• Review/records/approves payroll time for employees, directly on electronic timesheet.
• Monitors compliance and trains team members with/on current department and institutional policies and procedures and all government and regulatory agency codes and regulations
• Monitors productivity standards for responsible processes, interprets this information and exercises action as appropriate to ensure maximum work efficiency; communicates findings, and suggested improvement/resolutions, to manager.
• Assist manager with new work area policies and procedures, develops training material and then ensures training is completed, incorporating P.D.C.A. quality improvement method and LEAN principles, along with safety compliance.
• Conducts daily staff huddles to provide feedback on operational performance. 
• Maintains appropriate supplies and tools necessary for team members to provide services.
• Collaborates interdepartmentally with other Supply Chain/Inventory Control supervisors/mangers, customers and suppliers, to resolve service problems.  
• Maintains a professional customer sensitive rapport with hospital personnel, along with patients and visitors.
• Knowledge of labor relations and applicable AFSCME Union contracts. Handles employees? complaints and grievances.
• Assist Manager and other supervisors in development, implementation, and communication of projects.
• Assist Manager to remain within operating budget.
• Performs other related duties as specified and assigned.

• Either a 4-year college degree + 3 years? progressive warehouse / inventory supervision experience OR a MBA degree + 2 or more years? progressive warehouse / inventory supervision experience OR  7 or more years of experience leading /supervising in a warehouse /inventory setting with a proven record of progressive and increased responsibility solving complex to somewhat complex problems, leading shift or areas specific teams and working on complex level projects.
• Proven experience supervising the majority (over 70%) of the functional areas within a Materiel Warehouse / Inventory Management department OR in similar areas in another warehouse or inventory management setting:

• OR similar areas in another warehouse or inventory management setting
• Must be able to demonstrate a record of increased responsibility, solving routine to somewhat complex problems, leading a shift or area specific team(s) and working on simple projects alone and in teams.
• Greater than 1 year of proven experience with hiring, training, disciplining and/or terminating subordinate team members. 
• 2-3 years or more of progressive experience related to daily operations for a Materiel Warehouse and/or Inventory Management team.

Examples of such functions are:

• Conducting physical inventories daily
• Completing cycle counts as needed
• Making adjustments in the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and fixing the root causes of inventory inaccuracies
• Managing the supply, storage, distribution and recording of all materials to maintain adequate quantities to supplies needed to provide high quality patient care. 

• Experience is preferred in Health Care Inventory Management.
• Knowledge or experience in lean thinking and continuous improvement principles.
• Previous supervisory experience in a union setting.
• Previous experience in a distribution environment. 
• Experience authoring A3s and SBARs.
• Knowledge of Michigan Medicine clinical areas. 
• Knowledge of training and supervising techniques. 

Monday- Friday (40 hours)  

Standard hours: To be discussed during interview. Pavilion Warehouse Operations will cover day & afternoon shift.
