A Research Associate II temporary position is available in a dynamic research laboratory in the Department of Radiology at Michigan Medicine. Our group, led by Dr. Stefanie Galban, focuses on developing and establishing mouse models of various malignancies recapitulating human disease to develop novel therapies, including gene therapy and imaging technologies. Central to our studies is the lethal pediatric brain tumor, Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), particularly targeting cancer stem cells to address treatment resistance and identify new therapeutic paradigms in this disease. Our laboratory is surrounded by a rich research environment at the Center for Molecular Imaging and the Rogel Cancer Center. This position will support our investigations of mechanisms of molecularly targeted therapies utilizing imaging in cell cultures and mouse models. The research will involve molecular and cell biology procedures, gene editing techniques, protein analysis, DNA and RNA sequencing, fluorescence and bioluminescence imaging, and multi-modality imaging studies in mouse models of various cancers.
The candidate is expected to perform experiments to accomplish lab goals and critically analyze data. The research assistant will be expected to coordinate efforts with researchers in the Galban lab. The candidate must be open to a flexible schedule to accommodate times for animal imaging and varying treatment schedules.
Members of the Galban Laboratory work in a highly collaborative research environment with leading experts in oncology and imaging. Our goal is to motivate and train research assistants, students and postdocs across disciplines to address new and challenging problems in cancer and develop novel therapies.
