Job Summary

 

The Ziobro lab is seeking 2 full-time research technicians in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Neurology at the University of Michigan School of Medicine to contribute to exciting and highly translatable research in genetic epilepsies. The selected applicants will join a vibrant and diverse group of neuroscientist?s and assist with management of transgenic colonies, molecular, behavioral, and histological assays in addition to general laboratory organization. 

Responsibilities*

 

* Provides technical lab support by performing complex laboratory and research related tasks.

* Acts as specialist on laboratory research methods and equipment functions.

* Performs a variety of tests requiring a high degree of proficiency.

* Troubleshoots problems and recommends solutions.

* Evaluates experiment results using statistical and multivariate analysis.

* May instruct an laboratory academic section in laboratory research techniques, instruments, methods, and procedures.

Required Qualifications*

 
  • A qualified applicant will have a Bachelor?s degree in biological sciences or equivalent,
  • rodent handling experience,
  • basic laboratory skills,
  • good computer skills
  • proficiency in English,
  • a strong work ethic
  • organizational skills.

Desired Qualifications*

 

Experience in microscopy, rodent surgery, and/or data analysis is a plus. 1 to 2 year's experience preferred.
