Job Summary

Michigan Photography, nationally recognized for providing outstanding professional photography services for the university community, the media, and the general public (and the sole supplier of still photography to U-M Athletics), is looking for an experienced photographer to join our award-winning staff. Michigan Photography is the photographic arm of the Office of the Vice President of Communications and provides a variety of photo services, including portraiture, event coverage, athletics coverage, and artistic and creative stock photography. This position reports to the Director of Michigan Photography.

Responsibilities*

As a member of our creative team of photographers and staff, you will capture photographic images representing the full range of activities occurring on the campuses of the university, with these images being used for news, marketing, and social media outlets, among multiple other uses.

You will create photographic portraits of a wide range of individuals and groups of people with proper lighting for subjects in both indoor and outdoor settings.

Capturing peak sports action and sports features is a crucial aspect of your work, as is the ability to work with long telephoto lenses in high-pressure athletic situations.

Providing excellent customer service from initial contact through delivery of the finished product is crucial to your success.

You will work remotely, often unsupervised, editing images immediately after assignments to satisfy a variety of client deadlines and will need to lift equipment up to 50 pounds with long periods of standing while on assignment.

Required Qualifications*

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with 3 or more years of experience in digital photography. Experience using Nikon digital cameras and lenses, along with Profoto lighting equipment, is a plus.

Competency with Apple computers, the Adobe suite of editing software, PhotoMechanic, and Microsoft Office Suite is required.
