Job Summary

 

The Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology is currently recruiting for a Research Laboratory Technician Senior in Dr. Ming Li's lab. The Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology conducts basic research about the function of all branches of life - bacteria, plants, and animals. The research portfolio includes more than 40 sponsored awards, amounting to more than $8 million. We are also home to the more 300 students each year who graduate with majors in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology; plant biology; biology, health and society; and microbiology.

Responsibilities*

 

Lab Management (40%) - Play an integral role in organizing and maintaining the lab and ordering reagents
Conducting Experiments (60%) - Conduct research experiments using high skill sets in developing live cell imaging protocols to study protein degradation kinetics, assisting with molecular cloning and creating gene-edited mammalian cell lines using CRISCR techniques, and studying the mechanism of lysosome exocytosis

Required Qualifications*

 

The position requires a B.A. or B.S. degree in an appropriate discipline such as a biological science or biochemistry.  It is necessary to have at least 1-2 years of experience in a research lab with expertise in Molecular and cell biology. It is essential that the candidate have experience in studying protein degradation. Candidate must also have experience having done cell imaging with microscopes.
