We prepare specialists in the field of anesthesia, critical care, and pain management with a broad spectrum of knowledge, clinical skills, and mature interpersonal communication skills to become the consummate medical professional.
The Education Manager partners with the Residency Program Director, Core Anesthesiology Residency and the Senior Associate Chair, Education and Professionalism to strategically develop and execute high-quality, innovative, proficiency-based curricula to support the mission of continuous improvement of the residency program and within institutional requirements. This includes high level programmatic administrative management on all residency-related educational matters and in the application of policy and procedures. They serve as an important liaison with learners, faculty, other staff members, the ACGME, ABA, MM HR, and GME and are responsible for the oversite and delegation of all day-to-day operations of the Anesthesiology Residency. The Education Manager must possess strong leadership skills and personnel management and is expected to develop unique knowledge of the ACGME and Program Requirements, policies, and procedures. The Education Manager assists the Program Director in all accreditation efforts, educational programming, and support of the residents. They are a liaison between program leadership and clinical sites, including other departments and outside agencies to further the education missions. The Education Manager also collaborates closely with the Program Director to ensure compliance with the ACGME accreditation standards, the American Board of Anesthesiology policies, procedures, local GME policies and procedures, and adherence with the Rules and Regulations of the House Officer Association Contract. Additional responsibilities include compliance with House Officer Human Resource Management and the House Officer Budget. The Education Manager is a member of the leadership team for Residency Recruitment and has an important interface with prospective learners. The Education Manager provides leadership for a dynamic education team which requires an understanding of the curricular details of the resident training program and ongoing action plans for programmatic improvements.
