The Dean of Students Office promotes student development and enhances the experience of undergraduate and graduate students through programs, services, partnerships/connections, and policy development that promote an inclusive campus climate and facilitate the successful navigation of campus life. The core work of the Dean of Students Office includes promoting a safe and respectful campus community, enhancing students' Michigan experience, providing support services and managing critical incidents impacting students and the campus community, and recognizing and responding to the emerging needs within the student population.
The U-M campus radio station, WCBN, enhances engaged learning for its student volunteers through music and public affairs broadcasting, content development, and event production, while continuously working to enrich the University of Michigan and Ann Arbor communities. The campus radio station develops students' skills in management, fundraising, communication, technology, digital media, teamwork, web design, and research. WCBN has one professional staff member, the WCBN Engineer, and an advisor from the Dean of Students Office.
Position Summary:
The WCBN Engineer is the sole professional staff member who oversees the management, installation, and repairs of equipment for WCBN. This position assists students and community members in using the various equipment at the radio station, tracking their budget, and making purchases with a university purchasing card. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with FCC rules and regulations. The Engineer will work with Student Life Technology Solutions (SLTS) on the radio station's digital systems to ensure optimal connectivity, data security, and to coordinate core IT processes.
