The Adult Hospitals (AH) Project Manager will be a member of the AH administration team, working with the Administrative Director of Facilities to provide operational planning for facility projects at University Hospital, Frankel Cardiovascular Center, the D. Dan and Betty Kahn Health Care Pavilion and other adult areas. This role is important with the changes to bed and OR capacity that will occur with the opening of the D. Dan and Betty Kahn Health Care Pavilion, as well as the unit transitions occurring within University Hospital as part of the UH 2.0 project (which spans 6-7 years across 8-9 phases).  Prior to the pavilion's planned opening (Fall 2025), the role would help support completion of several building readiness tasks.  The role's primary scope would be UH 2.0 and other future Adult Hospital facility-related projects.

The Project Manager will be responsible for developing and managing project plans alongside operational leaders, with a focus on preparing patient care spaces, including inpatient units, operating rooms, procedure areas, emergency departments, treatment areas, and administrative spaces for clinical operations. This role demands strong project management capabilities, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative approach. Building and maintaining close working relationships will be essential, particularly with end users, Facilities, and Shared Services Departments, ensuring that spaces meet both clinical and operational needs while delivering projects on time and within budget.

• Oversee planning and execution of projects to prepare patient care spaces (inpatient units, operating rooms, emergency departments, etc.) for clinical operations, ensuring operational continuity during transitions in the UH 2.0 and other future projects.
• As part of unit and department transitions, manage inventories of equipment, furniture, and supplies for smooth transitions. Oversee logistics, including patient and team moves, delivery, staging, installation, and setup of items in collaboration with end users. 
• Develop and maintain project documentation, including plans, schedules, estimates, and status reports.
• Monitor project budgets and timelines, identifying risks and implementing strategies to address obstacles.
• Collaborate with teams and vendors to manage interdependencies and ensure timely project completion.
• Lead meetings, track progress, and ensure milestones and deadlines are met. 
• Assess and facilitate training plans for end users, aligning with project timelines and workforce planning.
• Analyze data to influence decision-making and present information to leadership.
• Support leadership with various tasks included but not limited to meeting facilitation, agenda planning, content development, project and priorities planning, and program management.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations throughout the project lifecycle.
• Oversee project closeout, resolving punch list items and preparing final documentation.
• Perform additional duties as assigned related to Adult Hospital projects and programs.

This position is a member of the AH Administration Team and reports directly to the Administrative Director for Facility Strategic Initiatives.

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, Health Services Administration, Nursing, Public Health, Facilities Planning, or a related field.
• Proven experience in healthcare, capital planning, or project management.
• Experience in project management within a consulting firm, teaching hospital, or major academic institution.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse clinical and support teams and facilitate meetings that drive institutional decisions. 
• Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Proficient in data analysis and project tracking.
• Demonstrated conflict resolution and problem-solving capabilities.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and other digital tools to support project completion.

Senior level: At least 5 years in healthcare project, clinical, facilities, and/or operations management experience 

Intermediate level: At least 2 years of experience 

• Master's degree in business administration, Health Services Administration, Nursing, Public Health, Facilities Planning, or other related discipline.
• Demonstrated knowledge of medical/clinical environment and understanding of inpatient and/or surgical/procedural clinical operations.
• Greater than four years of experience in a project management role in a consulting setting, teaching hospital, or major academic setting.
• Prior work experience with healthcare project planning. 
• Prior experience with Adult Hospitals Environment of Care planning.
• Prior experience interpreting floor plans and architectural drawings.
• Knowledge of Michigan Medicine policies and procedures.
