Job Summary

 

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan, in collaboration with the U-M Electric Vehicle Center, invites applications for a postdoctoral research fellow position. The successful candidate will focus on the discovery and design of immersion cooling fluids using molecular simulation and machine learning methods. This position offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of computational methods and advanced material discovery in a highly collaborative research environment.

Responsibilities*

 

1.     Conduct molecular simulations of fluid mixtures.

2.     Benchmark simulation results against available experimental data.

3.     Prepare manuscripts, proposals, and presentations for dissemination of research findings.

4.     Advise and mentor student research assistants.

Required Qualifications*

 

1.     Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.

2.     Proven experience with molecular simulation methods using software such as LAMMPS.

3.     Proficiency in high-performance computing environments and Python scripting.

4.     Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills.

Desired Qualifications*

 

1.     Experience with LAMMPS for molecular dynamics simulations.

2.     Familiarity with thermal conductivity and viscosity calculations.

3.     Experience with machine learning methods.

4.     Familiarity with data analysis and visualization techniques.
