The EVC is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead its Engineering Education initiatives. This role focuses on developing and managing educational experiences for undergraduate and graduate engineering students, emphasizing experiential learning. The successful candidate will play a key role in planning and implementing projects that enhance the educational journey of engineering students, ensuring alignment with industry needs and technological advancements.

Project Management and Reporting

• Lead and manage a diverse portfolio of projects aimed at enhancing experiential learning opportunities for engineering students, including technical projects, curriculum development, internships, and research experiences.
• Oversee project timelines, resources, and budgets, taking responsibility for integrating all aspects of the projects, addressing challenges, and optimizing resources.
• Coordinate project teams of faculty, staff, and students to ensure timely completion and encourage meaningful input.
• Track and report on project progress, outcomes, and impacts, utilizing these insights for continuous improvement of educational initiatives.
• Develop and implement stakeholder communication plans to ensure transparent and effective project updates and collaboration.
• Support grant writing activities and identification of funding opportunities.

Curriculum and Educational Experience Development

• Collaborate with faculty, industry professionals, and educational institutions to design curricula and programs that integrate practical engineering applications and address current industry challenges.
• Facilitate hands-on learning and research opportunities, enabling students to tackle real-world engineering problems effectively.
• Utilize research facilities such as the battery lab pilot line, EV charging infrastructure and EV component testbeds to develop educational experiences that cater to the specific learning needs of undergraduate, graduate, and professional students.
• Develop evaluation frameworks to measure program effectiveness and use these insights to refine and scale successful educational initiatives.

Outreach & Engagement

• Foster and maintain strong relationships with industry partners and educational institutions to align programming with EV ecosystem needs.
• Engage stakeholders in ongoing dialogue to collect feedback and iteratively refine educational offerings, keeping them aligned with the dynamic engineering landscape.
• Represent the EVC at conferences, workshops, and events to promote initiatives, share best practices, and enhance the center's industry presence.

• A master's degree in engineering, education, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven project management experience in educational or engineering settings, with a focus on overseeing complex projects.
• At least three years of technical experience in the mobility, automotive, or related technology sectors, allowing for informed oversight of engineering projects.
• At least three years of experience in industry-aligned educational programming, with an emphasis on integrating technical content into hands-on learning experiences.
• Effective stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
• Ability to travel regularly across Michigan, with an on-campus presence required at least 2 days per week.

This position may be filled at the Project Senior Manager classification or underfilled at the Project Intermediate classification, depending upon qualifications and experience.

This position will be hybrid and may require occasional travel to meetings across Michigan. Attendance of meetings in the office on the Ann Arbor campus will be required (on average, 2-3 days per week). 

This position is a term-limited position from May 1, 2025 through April 30, 2026 with the possibility of continued funding for additional years. After a successful launch of the proposed MEng degree in Mechanical Engineering, part of the position could transition to supporting the degree program.
