Job Summary

 

The Department of Recreational Services is seeking interested students to serve as front line Member Services staff helping to create a welcoming environment and oversee member and guest service processes at our front desk. Work schedule may include days, evenings, weekdays, or weekends, depending on availability. Applicants should provide hours of availability in attached resume. 

Responsibilities*

 

  • Greet patrons in person and via phone 
  • Assist with providing accurate and timely information regarding memberships, programs, services, and policies
  • Tasks including, but not limited to:
    • Cash handling 
    • Preparing paperwork
    • Organizing supplies 
    • Entering data as assigned 
    • Check in patrons at the member service counter
    • Assist with answering questions 
    • Process membership sales 
    • Process guest pass/resale item sales 
    • Registration of a variety of programs 
    • Check out and organize sports equipment 
    • Have an understanding of all facility procedures and the ability to articulate these to members/guests as needed upon entry to the facility 
  • Work closely with the Assistant Facility Supervisors (AFS) on facility concerns 
  • Other tasks as assigned

Required Qualifications*

 

  • UM-Flint student enrolled in the upcoming academic year 
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently 
  • Cash handling experience 
  • Excellent customer service skills 
  • Ability to multitask, understand, and apply numerous policies and procedures

Desired Qualifications*

 

  • Awarded work study 

Modes of Work

 

Onsite

The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence.  Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan. 

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Background Screening
