Poverty Solutions is an interdisciplinary university-wide initiative that seeks to foster research to identify and test strategies for the prevention and alleviation of poverty.  Its action-based research is focused on determining what is most effective and brings new discoveries to policy makers and community stakeholders. Poverty Solutions is seeking a data and policy analyst to assist on action-oriented research projects. You will serve as an analyst and project manager for research agendas centered on national, state, and local policy reforms that have the potential to improve housing stability and stable access to resources. You will report to the Data & Evaluation Manager.

• Data analysis: Analyze longitudinal data; create indices and other summary variables; and perform both basic and complex social science statistical analysis.
• Data processing and management: gather, process, merge, manage and archive data; enter data into databases; document all data processing steps; create, maintain, and archive survey and other study documentation.
• Research dissemination: Help prepare results for reports, spreadsheets, presentations, and data visualizations targeting both policymakers and academic audiences; conduct thorough and critical reviews of relevant literature.
• Project management: Manage all phases of the data analysis, including timeline, data gathering and analysis, coordinating the work of others, project deliverables.
• Research administration: complete IRB research applications, ensure compliance with university and sponsor regulations, maintain data agreements and data security, and maintain project records.
• Agency relations: Serve as  liaison for research partners to establish working relationships, build trust and gather data.

• Graduate-level degree or commensurate experience in public policy, education, political science, economics or a relevant social science discipline. 
• 2+ years of experience working on quantitative research projects (field operations; data management; analysis).
• Demonstrated knowledge of and interest in poverty alleviation, social safety net programs, educational research, and homelessness/housing stability policy with knowledge of social science research methods, concepts and practices.
• Substantial experience with social science statistical software packages, particularly with R,  STATA, and MS Excel (can perform complex functions)
• Experience with Tableau or other GIS mapping platforms.
• Experience writing reports and policy briefs for diverse audiences
• Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and collaborating across organizations and the community
• Commitment to social justice and diversity, equity, and inclusion
