Responsibilities*

 
  •  Providing compassionate care that integrates evidence based clinical research to patients in Podiatry study protocols.
  • Perform history and physical examinations.
  • Assess, perform, and evaluate lower extremity blood flow using relevant non-invasive vascular exams on clinical study participants
  • Sample collection of wounds specimen, which could include wound debridement, biopsies, tissue preparation and sampling.
  • Appropriate selection of wound care and wound care products to manage presenting wound(s).
  • Track and monitor participants condition and test results during the course of clinical studies.
  • Collect and record participant study-related data.

  • Serve as sub-investigator on research studies and participant in (pre-)screening, recruitment, retention, and management of all research participant(s)
  • Gathers, analyzes, and interprets data to facilitate clinical research.
  • Works with and collaborates with principal investigator and research coordinating team to develop strategies to optimize performance of clinical research studies.
  • Analyzes data and patient medical information to identify potential research study candidates, as well as assess opportunities for future studies at the direction of the PI
  • Assist with generating required reports and abstracts/manuscripts
  • Other duties deemed necessary to maintain the smooth operation of Podiatry and Diabetes foot complications research studies.

Required Qualifications*

 
Required Qualifications NP:
  • Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner specialty certification in the State of Michigan.
  • Current specialty certification to practice as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care, Family Nurse Practitioner, or Adult Primary Care NP
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
  • Current DEA required
  • AHA approved BLS required unless ACLS was completed through the UMHS Simulation Center
  • 5 years of wound-related nurse practitioner practice with certification Wound Care Advanced Practice/Wound Care Specialist (WCC-AP) by a nationally recognized accreditation board

     
Required Qualifications PA: 
  • Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan.  
  • Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA). 
  • Satisfactory completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or one of its predecessor agencies, CAHEA or CAAHEP.
  • State of Michigan Controlled Substance License Required
  • Current DEA Required.
  • AHA approved BLS required unless ACLS was completed through the UMHS Simulation Center
  • 5 years of wound-related nurse practitioner practice with certification Wound Care Advanced Practice/Wound Care Specialist (WCC-AP) by a nationally recognized accreditation board

Work Schedule

 
Hours/week: 1.0 FTE 40 hours
  • Schedule may very based on research study requirements
  • Onsite mainly at Domino?s Farms but other sites may be necessary.

Additional Information

 

This is a 100% Grant-Funded Term-Limited position.  This position will be funded through 12/31/2027.

Union Affiliation

 

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U-M Professional Nurse Council union, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
