7W is a 32-bed Adult Bone Marrow Transplant/Cellular Therapy/Hematology/Oncology unit. 8E is a ten-bed acute care unit that cares for adult surgical patients, Endocrine surgery and benign Gynecologic surgery and Gynecologic Oncology patients. The Blood and Marrow Transplant Program at the University of Michigan is the place where compassionate care, multidisciplinary collaboration and the latest research innovations come together to help patients whose conditions require that they undergo this highly specialized treatment. More than two hundred adult BMT procedures are performed at U-M each year, making us one of the largest programs in the state. We treat adult patients for the following blood cancers:
- Leukemia
- Lymphoma
- Myelodysplasia
- Multiple Myeloma
- Neuroblastoma
- Bone and soft-tissue sarcomas
- Other conditions including the failure of a patient's own bone marrow or certain immunodeficiency disorders.
The Clinical Nursing Director (CND) provides professional nursing leadership and administrative direction for nursing practice for nurses, including Clinical Nursing Supervisors, Educational Nurse Coordinators (ENCs), RNs, and Techs. This includes staff development programs, unit orientation to ensure compliance with practice standards, identifying and resolving unit operational problems, representing the unit on clinical area and hospital committees, and maintaining compliance with Federal and State regulations regarding affirmative action, safety, and patient care. This individual collaborates as a member of the 7W/8E leadership team to provide and continually improve healthcare services and to support the mission and goals of U-M Health, Michigan Medicine.
This position reports to the Associate Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) for Medical Services.
