Applications are invited for a Research Lab Technician position in the laboratory of Alan Boyle in the Gilbert S. Omenn Department of Computational Medicine and Bioinformatics and the Department of Human Genetics at the University of Michigan Medical School (boylelab.org). This is a highly interdisciplinary lab focused on both genetic and epigenetic transcriptional regulation of genes. Our lab focuses on understanding human genetic variation and its impact on disease. We are a friendly, energetic, and supportive group dedicated to our research while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
The applicant will be involved in a defined research project involving molecular biology, cell biology, genomics, and genetics. The position will focus heavily on human molecular genetic techniques including cell culture, DNA isolation. This full-time position involves working alongside senior lab members to perform and analyze molecular biology experiments related to regulatory and repetitive regions within the human genome, with primary responsibilities including assisting in long-read sequencing experiments and cell line maintenance. The candidate will be able to work both independently and in a team environment for the collection of data and analysis of research results. In addition, the candidate will be open to learning new methods and techniques as research opportunities develop and directions change.
