Job Summary

 

The Office of the Registrar at the University of Michigan is looking for someone to join the curriculum and examinations team. Reporting to the Assistant Registrar for Curriculum, the Curriculum and Examinations Specialist will provide support, train and partner with academic units to schedule classes, exams and events in University of Michigan classrooms. You will help maintain class and course data and produce and distribute reports. You will also assist with exam scanning.

Reporting to the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Office of Enrollment Management (OEM) manages U-M's enrollment function to efficiently optimize student experiences throughout their engagement, from prospect to alumni. The division collaborates with campus partners, faculty, and staff, in support of the university's mission and commitment to academic quality, accessibility, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

OEM comprises a dedicated team of more than 200 full-time staff members, and up to 400 additional student and temporary staff and is structured in five operational units: the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, the Office of Financial Aid, the Office of New Student Programs, the Office of the Registrar, and OEM Administration. OEM strives to provide excellence in access and support to diverse and inspiring learners who will challenge the present and enrich the future.

Responsibilities*

 
  • Schedule final and midterm examinations, resolve class and student exam conflicts.
  • Maintain University course and class data: Update course catalog information; schedule classes; verify class setup; assist with data preparation for classroom scheduling; schedule events for departments and student organizations; assist us in the implementation and testing of software updates.
  • Training and support: Provide procedural and technical assistance to academic units for course and class setup; train University staff in curriculum management tasks; document procedures for curriculum unit processes. 
  • Serve as a backup for the front desk reception area; assist other areas of the Registrar's Office and complete other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

 
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Must have demonstrated working knowledge of spreadsheets (can maintain complex spreadsheets).
  • Experience working collaboratively with diverse groups and individuals.

Desired Qualifications*

 
  • Experience working in an academic setting in the area of student services or curriculum.
  • Familiarity with the University's M-Pathways Student Records system.
  • Familiarity with University procedures.
  • Considerable experience with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.

Modes of Work

Our current policy requires all staff to be on-site weekly on Thursdays, and at least two other days for a total of three days in the office.
