Lab Management Duties:
Perform monthly inspections. Prepare for annual inspections. Ensure the lab remains in compliance with University, state, and federal laboratory safety regulations. Coordinate proper waste disposal according to University standards. Manage the mouse colony using online software and ensure husbandry tasks are performed efficiently. Perform necessary genotyping and husbandry tasks (ear tagging, weaning, setting up breeding cages). Establish and maintain workflows. Learn and train lab members in various techniques and procedures. Routinely monitor lab inventory and organize and order supplies. Schedule lab meetings and activities. Coordinate routine maintenance of lab equipment. Communicate with sales representatives as needed for supply/equipment acquisition. Maintain lab records including but not limited to training, inventory, safety regulations. Maintain accurate chemical inventory in compliance with University standards. Assist in financial reconciliation. Assist in hiring new lab personnel.
Technician Duties:
Develops, designs, and conducts research projects. Assist in data collection. Dissect and process tissue (including immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy,
and in situ hybridization). Maintain detailed records of all experiments and data via online servers. Analyze data. Attend weekly lab meetings. Interpret and implement research methodology with PI supervision. Assist in manuscript preparation. Provide ideas for improvement when relevant. Identify problems and limitations and recommend solutions.
