As a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center since 1991, our more than 350 core members, staff, and trainees work to prevent cancer, improve outcomes for those diagnosed, and enhance quality of life for cancer patients and survivors. The University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center seeks an Administrative Director (AD) to provide executive administrative leadership in the cancer center to sustain and enhance the center's impact across its range of missions. This position offers the opportunity to serve as the administrative lead at a well-established, NCI-Comprehensive Cancer Center with a national reputation for excellence in research, training, patient care, and community service, at one of the finest academic medical institutions and universities in the country.
The AD must work effectively with the Director and other members of the Rogel senior, component, and program leadership teams to identify and prioritize opportunities and implement decisions with center-wide impact. These decisions may be sensitive in nature and might affect University of Michigan (U-M) departments and divisions and other U-M centers and institutes as well as partner institutions, national groups, cancer organizations, and other external collaborating institutions. The AD is a member of the center's senior leadership team and serves on Medical School and Health System committees commensurate with an AD role.
Key responsibilities for the AD include administrative oversight of 200+ personnel; overseeing resources for a robust Oncology Clinical Trials Support Unit; engaging with Rogel teams in communications, development, education, and community outreach and engagement; fostering impactful relationships with donors and stewardship of center philanthropic resources; developing and implementing innovative approaches to enhance the cancer center's operations; and leading a culture of "excellence in everything we do."
The AD reports directly to the Director of the Rogel Cancer Center, with additional accountability for academic business operations to the Chief Operating Officer of the Medical School. Regarding clinical operations responsibilities, the AD partners with the Executive Director, Ambulatory Care Services for Cancer.
