The University of Michigan Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, world-renowned for its clinical expertise, residency and fellowship program excellence, and innovative research initiatives is seeking a full-time faculty position available immediately to direct its highly-rated residency.

The successful candidate will lead the Ophthalmology program for 21 resident trainees, overseeing its direction and operations. The Program Director will manage all aspects of the program, including administration, teaching, scholarly activities, resident recruitment and selection, and the evaluation and promotion of residents. The role also involves guiding residents in their education within the context of patient care. As a key role model, the Program Director will exemplify professionalism, clinical excellence, and a strong commitment to resident education. The program will be aligned with the needs of the community and the missions of Michigan Medicine.

Requirements include an MD, DO, or foreign equivalent degree, eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Michigan, and board eligibility by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Evidence of clinical competence and competence in clinical and didactic teaching is expected. Required qualifications include expertise in the specialty and at least five years of experience in educational or administrative roles. Applicants must meet all Michigan Medicine clinical privileging requirements for Ophthalmology.
