The Center for Educational Outreach is seeking college advisers to work with students and families across Michigan. If you are passionate about promoting equal access to education and believe in the power of community, we want to hear from you. We are specifically seeking recent graduates for this role. The College Adviser will be based at one of the following schools:
- Cesar Chavez Academy High School, Detroit (fluency in Spanish required)
- Flint Southwestern Classical Academy, Flint
- Jackson High School, Jackson
- Western International High School, Detroit (fluency in Spanish required)
- More schools to be announced in the near future
This program aims to inspire students to explore higher education opportunities, guide them through university admissions and financial aid processes, and support them in pursuing a college or career path after graduation. Advisers are required to live near their assigned school, and are expected to be present on-site at the designated high school during regular school hours (40 hours a week). Advisers will also need to be able to transport themselves to Ann Arbor for monthly in-person training.
This position will run from mid-July 2025 to June 30, 2026. Upon completion of the first year, advisers may have the option to extend their commitment for one additional school year, subject to the discretion of the Michigan College Access Corps (MCAC) program.
This is an AmeriCorps position. Advisers will receive:
- A $31,200 annual stipend.
- An AmeriCorps Education Award is awarded upon successful completion of the service term. (Amount to be announced soon)
