As the Associate Director of Development, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Initiatives (ADOD) , you will play a critical role in the direct, solicitation of leadership annual and major gifts ($10K+ or more when appropriate) and foundation and corporate relations to support the Center for Educational Outreach. The ADOD will also identify and qualify major gift prospects. In this role, you will work on increasing the number of leadership annual donors, major gift donors, and foundation and corporate giving partners to the Center for Educational Outreach, with a focus on SE Michigan. This role contributes to OUD's positive culture and adheres to OUD's values of diversity, equity, and inclusion by raising money for key priorities and programs focused on college access and affordability. Fundraising and Prospect Management for CEO (65%)

• Advance individual relationships that result in philanthropic contributions:
• Identify, qualify, and manage a portfolio of approximately 50 prospective donors with the capacity to make gifts of $100,000 and more.
• Complete at least 144 personal visits and substantive interactions with prospects and donors each year. 
• Communicate with, engage and qualify philanthropic interests of potential donors.
• Participate in a minimum of 40-50 gift solicitations per year with a focus on both the leadership annual giving ($10K+) and major gift levels ($100K-$500K).  

Foundation Relations and Grant Management (20%)

• Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with foundation and corporate giving partners to support the University of Michigan's Center for Educational Outreach initiatives and impact.
• Identify, research, and target new funding opportunities from foundations and corporations that align with the university's mission and strategic state goal to increase the number of working-age adults with a skill certificate or college degree from 51.1% today to 60% by 2030. 
• Develop and write grant proposals, funding requests, and reports, ensuring they meet both funder guidelines and the unique needs of U-M outreach priorities. 
• Collaborate with faculty, researchers, and administrative staff to gather relevant data, research outcomes, and impact narratives needed for effective grant applications and reporting.

Partnership with OUD and Campus Colleagues (10%)

• Serve as a subject-matter expert around fundraising related to college access and affordability. Meet regularly with development colleagues across campus to coordinate and execute strategies, and use experience and knowledge to build awareness and consensus around fundraising for University and unit-based diversity outreach initiatives.

Event Planning and Additional Responsibilities (5%)

• Partner with CEO team to coordinate efforts around CEO's 15 year anniversary
• Request mailing lists for event invitations from the Development Services team

• 3+ years experience in a professional setting or a bachelor's degree
• 2+ years of experience of fundraising experience or relevant experience in sales and marketing, or related fields. 
• Experience working with four and five-figure gifts or sales and marketing accounts, including the ability to evaluate prospects through the cultivation/solicitation cycle. 
• Demonstrate cultural awareness, knowledge, and competency while conducting their work. Be a DEI leader in the development community.
• Experience working with diverse populations. Have a high-level of awareness and sensitivity to cultural differences and issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Experience with software programs for retrieving, organizing and researching appropriate donor/prospect information, and data gathering and manipulation.
