Job Summary

 

Student researcher who will work closely with a faculty member to conduct research on Arab American, Muslim, and Middle Eastern experiences on campus. This will include conducting data collection and analyses. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in quantitative methods.  Basic knowledge of qualitative methods and/or a willingness to learn are also required. The candidate should have an interest in social justice issues and an anti-racist pedagogy. Familiarity with the political and cultural issues relevant to this study are a plus.

Responsibilities*

 
  • Develop surveys and interview questions 
  • Promote the study
  • Collect data
  • Analyze statistical data 
  • Recruit participants 
  • Ensure participants receive any promised  compensation 
  • Interview participants for qualitative study 
  • Transcribe/review qualitative data
  • Analyze interviews 
  • Write analyses and findings 
  • Help create palatable output and deliverables 

Required Qualifications*

 

Active undergraduate student enrolled at a University of Michigan campus
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Must have statistical knowledge and the ability to run quantitative analyses with little to no supervision, this role will require the ability to clean and analyze data
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Strong ethical background
Willingness to learn qualitative techniques and conduct interviews
Ability to transcribe and analyze interviews
