Job Summary

 

7C is a 32-bed adult cardiac telemetry/stepdown unit. 7C Nurses provide specialized care for a variety of medicine cardiology patients.
Common diagnoses include heart failure, arrhythmias, acute coronary syndrome, and pulmonary hypertension. Our patients include those with Implanted Ventricular Assist Devices (VADs) and those receiving prostacyclin infusions.

Salary range for RSAM Registered Nurses $41.44 - $64.45 / hour

Responsibilities*

 

To provide expert nursing care to the patients on 7C, acute care unit that primarily cares for Cardiac and Medical patients. 
Clinical expertise in a consultative role to the nursing staff.

To assess, design and conduct in-services presentations and competencies for nursing staff regarding clinical nursing care and the learning needs of the 7C patient populations.

To investigate, design, evaluate and modify as necessary nursing care programs in collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Specialist.

To assist in the development and maintenance of orientation, education, and competency records. To develop, revise and evaluate performance plans in collaboration with Nurse Manager/Supervisor and 7C ENC.

Work with staff on-going to identify any education gaps or areas that may need more education or reinforcement of education/ principles.

To perform or assist with unit audits related to quality improvement initiatives.

To actively participate in the orientation program for 7C including scheduling, preceptor development, training, and precepting for RN's and assistive staff.

To chair a nursing committee and/ or committee participation as needed.

To participate in the development and implementation of unit quality improvement programs and activities in collaboration with the 7C teams.

To provide leadership and mentor the staff.

This UMPNC RN posting is posted under the Role-Specific Advancement Model (RSAM) as:
ENC- COMPETENT NE
Actual RSAM LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
RSAM levels range from ENC-COMPETENT NE to ENC-EXPERT NE TO ENC-MASTERY Plus NE.

Required Qualifications*

 

Current MI RN License
Bachelor's degree in Nursing or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Five (5) cardiac experience (inpatient cardiac)
Two (2) or more years recent inpatient cardiac experience, including VAC and pulmonary hypertension
Experience with Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Desired Qualifications*

 

BSN or MSN preferred
Excellent leadership skills in facilitating group dynamic and team development 
Participation in continuous quality improvement (CQI) efforts:
Involvement in CQI teams
Supportive of changes recommended through the CQI process
High level of self-motivation and commitment to improving patient outcomes
Working knowledge of UMHS nursing policy and practice
Demonstrated evidence within the last year of teaching experiences with:
Proficient in adult learning principles
Must be able to establish a strong working relationship with unit staff

Work Schedule

 

Hours: 40 hrs/wk. 
Shift: Primarily Days with ability to flex schedule accordingly to unit educational needs as needed. Includes weekends 

All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.
