The Michigan Health Sciences Summer Institute (MHSSI) consists of residential, hybrid, and on-line academies sponsored by the University of Michigan Medical School (UMMS) Office for Health Equity & Inclusion (OHEI). The Undergraduate Research Academy (URA) will provide undergraduate/recent college graduate students with a research experience alongside a University of Michigan faculty mentor; the Career Development Academy (CDA) will provide undergraduate/recent college graduate students with an MCAT prep course and resources to apply to medical school; and the Summer Pre-College Exposure Academy (SPEA) will provide high school students with an SAT Prep course and college prep resources. Approximately 20 students are accepted in the Career Development Academy, 20 students are accepted in the Undergraduate Research Academy, and 40-50 students are accepted in the Summer Pre-College Exposure Academy.
As part of the Office for Health Equity and Inclusion (OHEI) with the University of Michigan Medical School, the Michigan Health Sciences Summer Institute (MHSSI) is seeking individuals to serve as Pathways Student Leader(s). As a Pathways Student Leader, you will be directly responsible for the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of workshops and program events designed to contribute to the professional development of the MHSSI participants. The Pathways Student Leader will oversee the implementation of all workshops, support MHSSI related activities, and be responsible for facilitating designated workshop sessions. The Pathways Student Leader will work closely with and receive direction from the Pathways Pre-Med Program Manager. As a student leader, you will be directly responsible for the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of all housing activities and the implementation of co-curricular activities for the programs.
