The Gift Liaison, Events and Finance is responsible for the accuracy of all gift-related revenue to Michigan Medicine, serves as an Office of Development expert on PCI compliance, IRS, CASE and Standard Practice Guide (SPG) guidelines, and other university policies and requirements, and serves as the team's lead liaison for all fundraising events.

Fundraising Events Liaison - 50%

• Serve as the Gift Finance team lead for all fundraising events
• Manage Greater Giving software for all fundraising events
  • Responsible for training team members and department users of Greater Giving software
  • Greater Giving procurement
  • Greater Giving financial reporting
• Review and approve event sponsorship materials
• Audit fair market values for all auction items
• Perform complex financial analyses of fundraising events

Gift and Financial Services - 30%

• Liaise with the Office of Faculty Affairs to verify professorship funding requests 
• Monitor the gift holding account and request transfers 
• Update and distribute the MMOOD database monthly
• Correct gifts as required
• Open and modify gift funds (endowed and expendable)
• Request journal entries as required

Gift Finance Team Support - 15%

• During times of increased volume, assist members of the Gift Finance team with critical and time-sensitive functions, including processing gifts, updating financial and donor biographical information, compiling and delivering reports, and accepting, verifying, and reporting on tribute gifts
• Communicate Gift Finance policies/procedures for Michigan Medicine Development, including for cash handling, fund minimums and requirements, reconciliations, financial transfers, and reporting
• Serve as a MM Development expert on federal tax reporting requirements such as PCI compliance, IRS, CASE and Standard Practice Guide (SPG) guidelines, and other university policies and requirements; make decisions regarding compliance and educate stakeholders

• Other work and/or special projects as assigned

• Bachelor's Degree
• At least 2 years of progressively responsible finance/accounting or gift fund processing experience, preferably in a fundraising environment
• Detail and results-oriented with ability to accurately manage large amounts of data
• Excellent verbal, written, presentation and organizational skills with demonstrated attention to detail
• Proven ability to use discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality
• Ability to work flexible hours with occasional weekend and evening work as necessary
• Reliable remote internet service

• Development experience in an academic health system setting with a comprehensive development program 
• Experience interfacing with the public in a fast-paced service environment
• Experience with DART or other similar donor management systems
• Experience generating reports from a variety of sources
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook 365) and Google Drive
• Knowledge of University of Michigan organization, policies, and procedures

The onsite location for this position is an office suite at the 777 Building in Ann Arbor. The work schedule includes working 3 days on site, 2 days remote. This does require flexibility based on the work demands.

The location at 777 provides free, on-site parking for staff.

This position may be eligible for flexible work opportunities at the discretion of the hiring department.
