The Neuro Critical Care Unit (NCCU) is a 24 bed ICU that cares for patients from neurosurgery, neurology, stroke, otolaryngology, and oral maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) services. Medical problems most often treated to this unit include: thrombectomies, post-operative craniotomies for brain tumors, cerebral aneurysms, intracranial hemorrhage/hematomas, severe head and/or spinal cord injuries, increased intracranial pressure, caring for and assessing free flaps, doppler usage, tracheostomy care/management, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), Myasthenia Gravis, Status Epilepticus, and Guillain-Barre syndrome.

The D. Dan and Betty Kahn Health Care Pavilion is a 12-story hospital that will house 264 private rooms capable of converting to intensive care; a state-of-the-art neurosciences center. High-level, specialty care services for cardiovascular and thoracic patients will also be housed, along with advanced imaging. The 690,000 square foot hospital which also features twenty surgical and three interventional radiology suites is being constructed adjacent to the Frankel Cardiovascular Center, with plans for bridge and tunnel connections to existing inpatient care facilities. The anticipated opening of the new D. Dan and Betty Kahn Health Care Pavilion is Fall 2025.
The Clinical Nurse Supervisor will partner with the Clinical Nursing Director and the Clinical Nurse Specialist in the planning and management of the clinical and administrative operation of the Adult Neuro Critical Care Unit.
- To provide leadership in the practice of nursing, emphasizing quality patient care, service, education and research.
- To assist in coordinating between management and patient care activities consistent with the University of Michigan Hospital and Health Center mission and goal statements.
- Reports directly to the Clinical Nursing Director.
- Collaborative/consultative relationship with other health professionals and administrative personnel.
- Functional and administrative supervision of the nursing and support staff personnel as delegated by the Clinical Nursing Director.
