As the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor, you will be responsible for performing activities relating to and supporting the coordination, training, and supervision of individuals within assigned area of responsibility. Duties and responsibilities of this individual will include supervision, support, and compliance of activities related to the practice of pharmacy as a pharmacy technician. This includes preparation, compounding, packaging, storing, recording, processing, dispensing, labeling and delivery of medications and pharmaceutical supplies. The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor may also provide functional supervision of Pharmacy Technician Trainers, collect and or/record metrics, quality and/or surveillance data, and develop and implement process improvements
Specific duties include:
• Develop policies and guidelines to improve standardization and maintain regulatory compliance in areas of oversight.
• Monitor daily practices to ensure they are conducted with adherence to policy and guidelines, legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
• Develop and prepare training and procedural materials for areas of oversight.
• Hire, set/adjust rates of pay and hours of work, complete performance appraisals, mentor, promote, and other administrative HR responsibilities for assigned staff.
• Direct the orientation, education, training, professional development, and performance evaluation of assigned staff. Validate that all assigned staff are oriented and competent.
• Ensure that an effective staffing plan is in place and executed to optimize efficient operations.
• Directly, or through delegation, plan and schedule shift assignments and work for assigned staff, ensure proper distribution of assignments and adequate manning, space, and facilities for subsequent performance of duties.
• Directly, or through delegation, manage the scheduling of the assigned work force inclusive of vacation schedules, ad hoc requests, and surveillance of employee attendance.
• Collect, analyze and interpret metrics on operations, costs, productivity, and staffing requirements for
areas of oversight.
• Provide primary oversight of the function, quality, and productivity of assigned staff.
• Review payroll records and approve time reports for assigned staff.
• Handle staff and/or patient issues, concerns/complaints, and grievances.
• Lead or actively participate in Department of Pharmacy Services work group and/or committees that address quality, cost containment, and regulatory compliance issues
• Provide assistance to other pharmacy leaders in support of area duties, tasks, and needs.
• Assist with meeting productivity targets for Department of Pharmacy Services and Michigan Medicine.
• Promote fiscal responsibility in areas of oversight. Develop strategies to maximize the efficient use of resources.
• Coordinate, oversee, and implement employee off-boarding.
• Other duties as assigned.
