The Controlled Substances Data Analyst is a valuable member of the Diversion Prevention Team within the Department of Pharmacy Services that is responsible for the day-to-day monitoring of controlled substances use and handling within Michigan Medicine. The Diversion Prevention Team works to prevent, detect, and respond to drug diversion.
The primary responsibility of the position includes data analysis and review of a variety of data sources to identify possible drug diversion and ensure controlled substance reconciliation and discrepancy resolution. Extensive data from medical records, automated dispensing cabinets, patient safety reports and other sources must be analyzed, tracked, trended, and interpreted in the context of a highly complex and varied clinical environment.
The position will work closely with colleagues in Pharmacy, Nursing, Anesthesia and Compliance in conducting analysis and managing incident response related to potential mishandling or diversion of controlled substances. Significant collaboration and coordination with both leadership and operational personnel will be required across the hospitals and health centers.
