Job Summary

 

As a member of the OEM Marketing and Communications, the Marketing Communications Coordinator will carry out marketing related duties focused on advancing the mission, awareness, reputation and program offerings of the University of Michigan. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications, the Coordinator will support the development, coordination and execution of impactful communications and marketing initiatives.

This is a two-year term limited position (funding) with possibility of renewal.

Reporting to the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Office of Enrollment Management (OEM) manages U-M's enrollment function to efficiently optimize students' experiences throughout their engagement, from prospect to alumni. The division collaborates with campus partners, faculty, and staff, in support of the university's mission and commitment to academic quality, accessibility, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

 

OEM comprises a dedicated team of more than 200 full-time staff members, and up to 400 additional student and temporary staff and is structured in five operational units - the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, the Office of Financial Aid, the Office of New Student Programs, the Office of the Registrar, and OEM Administration.

Responsibilities*

 

  • Utilize project management tools to help manage complex projects. 
  • Assist with the management of the production of OEM print materials including brochures, fliers, postcards, publications, etc. 
  • Work with designated vendors and resources to obtain project quotes and produce materials cost effectively, on time and with the appropriate approvals.
  • Assist in ensuring proper brand and logo usage on all campus literature, publications and collateral. 
  • Assist the multimedia designer in the development and management of the university digital asset management system.
  • Support the efforts of the Marketing and Communications team to generate additional content ideas for social media and university publications.
  • Provide assistance on other OEM communications and marketing initiatives including: photo/video shoots, and campus events.
  • Manage annual updates of university/OEM key Facts & Figures and Ranking information 
  • Manage publication inventory, forecast usage to ensure materials are available when needed. 
  • Serve as MarCom representative on key OEM committees. 
  • Additional duties as assigned 

Required Qualifications*

 

  • A bachelor's degree in marketing or communications is required. 
  • One year of marketing experience with a strong understanding of project management principles, marketing concepts and best practice.
  • Proficiency in Social Media channels, Canva, Google Suite and project management tools such as Teamwork, Monday, Asana, or Smartsheets. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; must be able to write clear and effective communications to university faculty/staff and partners.
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task to meet deadlines

Modes of Work

 

The Office of Enrollment Management requires a hybrid work arrangement of minimally three days on-site and two remote days. Thursdays are required as an on-site work day for all.

Flexible work agreements are reviewed annually and subject to change dependent on the business needs throughout the course of employment.
