Job Summary

 

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan is seeking a full-time clinical track
faculty member to work in Ambulatory Psychiatry Child and Adolescent outpatient
clinic. The successful candidate will participate in the clinical teaching of learners and
clinical care of patients in the outpatient setting. The U-M Department of Psychiatry
involves more than 150 faculty across all areas, robust research programs, busy general
and subspecialized clinical programs, and clinical and research training opportunities.
The ideal candidate for this position will focus on provision of high-quality clinical care
and education in a highly multidisciplinary ambulatory setting. This includes general
psychiatric care for children and adolescents with anxiety, mood disorders and other
diagnostic domains, e.g., ADHD, based on skill and interest. The candidate will share in
teaching responsibilities of medical learners including medical students, house officers,
and clinical fellows.
In addition to direct patient care, our faculty have the opportunity to:
Participate in or lead quality improvement and research efforts
Provide mentorship, didactic teaching, and engage in patient care activities with
learners in related disciplines including social work and psychology.

Required Qualifications*

 

Applicants must hold an M.D. or equivalent degree, be board certified or board eligible in
Psychiatry and Neurology and must hold or be eligible for a Michigan medical license.
Evidence of clinical competence and competence in clinical and didactic teaching is
expected. Applicants must have demonstrated promise for an academic career that
emphasizes clinical care, teaching, and administration. Superior clinical competencies and
master teacher skills are necessary and be an active member in good standing of the
University of Michigan Medical Staff. Comfort with providing mental health care to
patients with significant physical health or developmental needs is necessary.

Background Screening
