The University of Michigan Detroit Center is one of the central units reporting to the Office of the Provost. Reporting to the Vice Provost for Engaged Learning, the Detroit Center's mission is to support, facilitate, and enable partnerships and collaborations between the University of Michigan and Detroit communities, centered on education, applied learning, and/or research endeavors. To that end, the Detroit Center organizes activities that promote awareness and seed collaboration opportunities through in-person and hybrid events. In addition, the Center acts as a visible and prominent representative of the University in Detroit.
The UMDC Project Manager will report to the Senior Project Manager at the U-M Detroit Center and is responsible for supporting a variety of strategic activities and projects, primarily focused on education and community engagement within the city of Detroit. Projects, and their focus, are expected to evolve over time. The UMDC Project Manager will also be responsible for managing the Detroit Center's marketing, communications, social media, web pages, and virtual catalogs. They will create promotion and marketing collateral for activities, projects, and initiatives led by the Detroit Center, in alignment with the academic mission of the University of Michigan, and the Office of the Vice Provost for Engaged Learning.
Project/program development cycles will require management from concept through completion, including the creation of detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, status reports, data tracking and analysis, and presentation of project deliverables.
As a member of the Detroit Center team, the UMDC Project Manager should also assist in daily Detroit Center operations, including events, activities, and other center priorities. This position will occasionally be required to work evenings and weekends to accommodate workshops or other events. Work will be hybrid, with a schedule that adapts to the needs of the UMDC offerings.
