The Center for Global Health Equity (CGHE) at the University of Michigan has an opening for a postdoctoral scholar in the 2025-2026 cohort of its Impact Scholars program. This program is designed to prepare exceptional early career scholars for a global health career in academia, government, civil society, NGO, or advocacy as an effective and influential leader. Scholars will build a coherent body of their own work and will also collaborate with peer scholars and CGHE faculty to help shape the Center?s approach to defining and measuring the impact of its work on the lives of the world?s most vulnerable people. This position will be term-limited to two years, with a requirement for review and approval for continuation after one year.
This Impact Scholar position will receive primary mentorship from Bilal Butt, PhD, Associate Professor of Sustainability and Development at the School of Environment and Sustainability, and complementary mentorship from a robust multi-disciplinary mentorship committee, including the University of Michigan Medical School, the Center for Global Health Equity and various health institutions in Kenya. Work will center on gaining a better understanding of how the health of pastoralists in dryland parts of Kenya is changing under climate change regimes, with a particular focus on the relationships between water quality, disease burdens, epidemiological patterns and public health at the local and sub-national scales.
