The Children's Emergency Department Patient Services Assistant Temp is responsible for providing coverage for various patient and family needs.

Responsibilities*

 
  • At Check-in, in partnership with the triage team, serve as initial point of contact for patients, families, and visitors to the ED, setting the tone of quality customer service for the duration of the guests' experience. 
  • Create new visit records in MiChart for each patient upon arrival to the ED, performing detailed searches to ensure an error free process. 
  • As Unit Host, collaborate with Michigan Medicine Security Services and the clinical team to manage visitor flow in an out of the ED. 
  • As Unit Host, provide point of contact and support for patients and visitors waiting for treatment room assignments. Ensure effective flow of information to patients and families/visitors by promptly addressing or relaying questions or concerns to the appropriate members of the care team. 
  • Utilize various online systems to order supplies and equipment for all ED treatment areas through collaboration and communication with various support services and the ED clinical team. 
  • Serve as a resource to nursing regarding patient food and nutrition services. 

Required Qualifications*

 
  • 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of customer service experience.
  • Team player with ability to communicate effectively with patients and families, as well as staff and faculty, courteously, respectfully, and confidentially at all times
  • Demonstrated effective listening skills and excellent interpersonal communication skills to interpret and identify customer needs or concerns.
  • Demonstrated record of excellent attendance, flexibility and dependability.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Basic computer skills

Desired Qualifications*

 

 

  • One year of experience in an ED, clinic, or other health care settings.

Background Screening
