Job Summary

The University of Michigan-Flint seeks a dedicated part-time Disability Services Support Coach to join our Office of Disability and Accessibility Support Services team. This position is focused on providing individualized support to students with disabilities, with a specific focus on neurodivergence, to enhance their academic skills and facilitate their navigation of the campus environment. The Disability Services Coach will collaborate with students, faculty, and staff to promote an inclusive and accessible learning atmosphere where all students can succeed.

This position reports to the Assistant Director of Disability Services.

This is a part-time 20 hours per week with an annual salary of $20,750 to $26,000.

Responsibilities*

  • Provide one-on-one supportive coaching to students with disabilities to help them develop and refine their academic skills, including time management, study strategies, organization, and note-taking.
  • Assist students in understanding their accommodations and how to utilize them effectively in both classroom and testing environments.
  • Help students navigate and access campus resources such as tutoring centers, writing support, counseling services, and assistive technology labs.
  • Develop and facilitate workshops, presentations, and educational materials for the campus community on disability-related topics.
  • Maintain confidential records of student interactions and progress, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
  • Serve as a liaison between students with disabilities and university staff to resolve issues relating to accessibility and accommodation implementation.
  • Remain current with best practices in disability services and higher education through professional development opportunities.
  • Assist with proctoring exams for students with accommodations when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelors degree in a related field.
  • Two or more years of relevant experience related to the job responsibilities.

Modes of Work

Onsite

The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence. Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan.

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes here.

Background Screening
