This full-time in-person position serves as a health care interpreter for our patients and staff who are in need of language services. You'll work in a dynamic environment in a medical setting with new challenges every single day and work alongside a collaborative team of other Interpreters with diverse backgrounds. As the interpreter, you will convey health care information between monolingual speakers while complying with all Interpreter Services and Michigan Medicine policies and procedures. You will follow all aspects of confidentiality set forth by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements regarding patient confidentiality. You will also need to have a passing performance of competencies listed in the National Standards of Practice and the National Code of Ethics for Interpreters in Health Care according to the National Council on Interpreting in Health Care (NCIHC). You will need to travel within our main hospital and its satellite locations including those outside of Washtenaw County.
You'll also have the opportunity to participate in committees and complete projects as assigned.
