Job Summary

 

The Division of Biostatistics in the Department of Radiation Oncology is currently looking to hire a Statistician.  The University of Michigan Department of Radiation Oncology is one of the top ranked department and residency program in the country.  The division of Biostatistics currently consists of faculty members, MS statisticians and PhD students. Members of the division have long-running deep collaborations with Radiation Oncologists in a variety of disease sites.  We have access to many valuable datasets including many large observational and clinical trial datasets.  Areas of focus include prediction models, biomarkers, imaging and individualization of treatment to optimize outcomes for patients with cancer. We often build R Shiny apps to increase the clinical utilization and impact of the statistical analyses.

Responsibilities*

 

Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Meet independently with clinical collaborators to discuss research projects.
  • Apply knowledge, skills, and experience of statistical analysis principles to investigate and answer health-related research questions
  • Write, edit, and document computer programs to clean, manage, and analyze data.
  • Develop and deliver written, graphical, and/or verbal presentations of the data.
  • Co-author medical manuscripts by providing descriptions of statistical methods, statistical analyses, results, tables, and figures.
  • Build R Shiny Apps for implementing prediction models or clinical decision aids.

Required Qualifications*

 

Senior Level:

  • A minimum of a Bachelors degree in a recognized field of science or learning which is directly related to this position.
  • 3 - 5 years of professional experience 

Intermediate Level:

  • A minimum of a Bachelors degree in a recognized field of science or learning which is directly related to this position.
  • 1 - 3 years of professional experience 

Desired Qualifications*

 
  • Master's degree in biostatistics, statistics, or equivalent
  • Prior experience in medical research field is desirable but not required
  • Skills in using statistical analysis software; for example: SAS, R, STATA, or Python
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
